The Best Ever Christmas Cosmetics in Games

Something Nice For Everyone Who’s Been Nice This Year!

It’s finally December! Most people eagerly await the Christmas festivities but it’s always a different battle for gamers everywhere. We barely weathered the storm of November’s Black Friday and Autumn sales but there’s already something new on the horizon.

Any good online competitive game will have seasonal content for its players to enjoy. Naturally, we took a look at some of the most famous Christmas-themed cosmetics and picked out our favorites. Your wallets aren’t quite done with 2021 yet. There are way more video game cosmetics you can pick up to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season. Gaben, bless us.

Mirage The Wisecracker – Apex Legends

Mirage’s incessant ramblings have made him the unofficial poster child of Battle Royale smash hit Apex Legends. Naturally, Apex doesn’t slouch on seasonal events. This has led to the release of the well-designed Wisecracker skin for Apex’s own illusion master. Mirage skins work best when they catch your attention because it works so well into his gameplay. It’s hard to ignore a giant nutcracker crossing your line of sight.

We can all expect a Christmas event to return to the Apex queue sometime later this month.

Glimmer Skin – Fortnite

Fortnite excels in its crossover content and pop-culture references. The legendary winter-themed Glimmer Skin instantly reminds one of Disney’s Elsa from Frozen. The winter season isn’t strictly speaking exclusively Christmas-themed but donning this skin makes each battle royale game feel like you’re walking in Winter Wonderland. This specific skin can be purchased in the Item Shop for around 2,000 V-Bucks when it’s up for sale. Keep an eye out for winter-themed sales on Fortnite.

Jingle Tracer – Overwatch

Overwatch dominated the skill-based team shooter space in 2016 but has since fallen out of vogue in recent years. Regardless of its current fame, it offered many iconic Christmas-themed skins for its heroes. One of the most iconic Christmas skins is the Jingle Tracer skin. Tracer is the most recognizable Overwatch hero and her cute Santa’s Elf costume works well into her bubbly personality.

Blizzard’s team shooter may not have the best loot box reputation on the market but almost all of their skins can be acquired by merely playing the game. Maybe it’s time to rekindle your old Overwatch glory by dusting it off the Battle.net shelf.

Winter Wonder Soraka – League of Legends

Riot Games may not always do the best job when it comes to balancing League of Legends (a recurring joke in the community and the constant complaint of the players) but they’re skilled in every other area. The LOL developers excel in creating small pockets of lore in their grander Runeterra world. The wide assortment of snowy skins featuring Champion cosmetics set in the mystifying Winterlands setting just makes one remember every cold Christmas they celebrated.

Soraka’s Winter Wonder skin stands out above the rest of the skins with her vibrant hair and regal design. Most LOL skins remain on sale in the store so you won’t have to go through the painful process of farming loot boxes and microtransactions.

Outfit of the Furtive Frostus – Dota 2

Dota 2 is the most successful MOBA on the market. It absolutely has no shortage of cosmetics for its many heroes but that doesn’t stop its fans from making their own. The Dota 2 Steam Workshop is full of creative skins that each have the potential to be added to the official game.  The Outfit of the Furtive Frostus skin set for Tusk features a Santa-themed cosmetic for the game’s hard initiator. Hopefully, the custom skin makes its way into the official game. Who doesn’t want to play as San-Tusk Claus?
