Set in the late 1800s, Hogwarts Legacy puts you in the shoes of a 5th-year transfer student. You’ll get placed in one of the four Houses of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff by the famous Sorting Hat. In true RPG fashion, you’ll be able to customize your character’s gender, hairstyle, facial features, and even the clothes that they wear.
Since the game is set more than a century before the story of Harry Potter, most characters you meet in Hogwarts Legacy will be new faces. With the exception of a few friendly ghosts like Nearly Headless Nick, you’ll get to meet a whole new cast of characters while living in the dormitories of Hogwarts.

In Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll also be attending classes where you get to learn new spells and even new ways to power your character up. Classes will be a part of your Hogwarts life and we won’t have it any other way because that’s what being a student is all about.

As a transfer student, you come into the game already a spell-slinger in your own right. With relations to build and classes to attend, you forge your own path in the game as you discover the vast castle that is the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While the story isn’t written by J.K. Rowling, Hogwarts Legacy tells an epic story that promises to please fans and newcomers alike. The main character possesses the rare gift to perceive and mastering Ancient Magic.
The player meets a mysterious Professor Fig to help the player master Ancient Magic and is a key figure throughout the story of Hogwarts Legacy. In this epic adventure, the player will fight a goblin rebellion, evil wizards, and magical beasts too. With a plethora of spells at your disposal, the player will feel like a master duelist as they engage in the game’s exciting combat. At the end of the game’s first reveal trailer, the player character even incants Avada Kedavra. Allowing use of the Dark Arts like the Killing Curse adds an exciting sense of branching stories for good and evil playthroughs in the game!
Hogwarts Legacy is expected to release during the 2022 holiday season. While the game is still quite a ways off without a concrete release date, we wish Avalanche Studios all the best during their development period. With the ongoing pandemic in the world, we hope Hogwarts Legacy does not suffer a Cyberpunk 2077-like fiasco come to its release date. These days a delayed game is definitely better than a buggy game at launch.
