There has perhaps never been a better time to be a gamer considering the amount of choice on offer. Before a game is released, reviewed and judged accordingly, game trailer often offers an insight into what players can expect. If a trailer is intriguing enough it can quickly go viral, gaining valuable publicity.

The following are 5 of the best cinematic game trailers of all time. People got excited after watching these game trailers with stunning graphics.

5: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher series by the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The fantasy game follows the story of Geralt of Riva, a traveling monster hunter who possesses supernatural powers.

An attractive woman sings a sweet melody as she is approached by Geralt after a short conversation it’s revealed she is not as she appears and the two battle.

Several game trailers were released for the third installment of the series but A Night to Remember stands out as the best example of storytelling, atmosphere and animation. Despite that the scene shown in the game trailer does not actually appear in the game, it was successful in capturing the atmosphere and tone of The Witcher series.

While the BioShock series has implemented some stunning trailers during its run, many fans believe the original Bioshock stands out as exceptional. Developed by Irrational Games and released in 2007 the trailer is divided into two parts.

While the trailer does not use any in game footage, it sets the tone of the game beautifully. The trailer starts with narration by the game’s lead antagonist Andrew Ryan. He introduces the underwater city of Rapture, his vast version of a utopia. The second part of the trailer switches into a first-person viewpoint of a would-be child snatcher in an action sequence which introduces the Little Sisters and the Big Daddies.

The quote “We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us,” is echoed throughout the series and relates well to the ambiguous ethics explored within the game.

3: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

The Assassin’s Creed series developed by Ubisoft offers gamers an original storyline and exciting action. The Animus which allowed visiting the past through the bloodlines of an ancestor. The action-packed adventure series with a heavy focus on stealth has always provided stunning trailers, making it difficult to choose a favourite.

The game trailer reintroduces Ezio Auditore, a Florentine nobleman turned deadly assassin. He is making his way through a crowd, cutting down guards with throwing knives and hidden blades. He quickly sets his sights on his target riding in a carriage.

Any of the Assassin’s Creed game trailers could feature on this list but after much deliberation it had to be Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The trailer features epic music and grand visuals and also sparks the interest of any prospective players who missed the earlier games.

The Mass Effect series developed by BioWare had been hugely successful and gamers across the world were eagerly awaiting the next instalment. The trailer introduces the ancient alien race of Reapers to new comers and builds anticipation to fans at the same time by acting as a prologue to the series.

The opening shot of a little girl playing with a toy spaceship in a beautiful field of sunflowers is stunning and builds tension as the Reapers commence their attack. The game’s tagline “Take Earth back” invited gamers to join the war in the battle for their planet.

The Mass Effect series gave players the option a male or female protagonist. The studio released two versions of the trailer featuring a male and female Shepard. The trailer struck all the right cords, amplifying the already growing hype for the series tenfold.

1: The Elder Scrolls Online Summerset

The fantasy role playing The Elder Scrolls series developed by Bethesda Games Studios has been going strong since 1994 with The Elder Scrolls: Arena. The series takes place on the continent of Tamriel, a world of heroes, dragons and magic.

The cinematic trailer for Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset features dramatic music, which the series is famous for. The graphics as some of the best to appear in a game trailer with breathtaking detail in the scenery and characters. The camera scans over a forest area before entering the woods to reveal a creature. An Elf warrior appears and warns of danger and shadows. The tagline “Your home needs you now more than ever” welcomes the player back into the world.

The single player games offered in the series such as Skyrim have been hugely popular and revitalized the fantasy genre. This trailer built great anticipation offering fans of the series an opportunity to play online with friends and a community for the first time.
