2023 Most Anticipated Games

2023 Most Anticipated Games

We’re halfway through 2022 and 2023 is right around the corner. Let’s talk about some of the most anticipated games in 2023. Some games slated for 2022 were delayed to 2023 but the games will surely be better for it with more time for bug-testing and fine-tuning. No one wants a repeat of the disastrous launch that Cyberpunk 2077 had in late 2020. Since that incident developers have become warier of rushed launches and that’s totally okay. Here are some of the games we are looking forward to the most in 2023!

Breath of the Wild 2

This is arguably one of the most anticipated titles coming next year and it will finally grace the Switch very soon. After being delayed in 2022 since Nintendo decided it needed more time in the oven. Breath of the Wild revolutionized the concept of the open-world sandbox game when it was first released in 2017. Breath of the Wild 2 promises a lot more scale in its world and depth in combat. The link will also take to the skies on a grander scale in the sequel and we can’t wait to see what the world above Hyrule has in store for us.

Baldur’s  Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 was released in Early Access on Steam way back in October 2020. Lots of buzz and excitement abounded for the long-awaited Baldur’s Gate sequel with Swen Vincke and the rest of the acclaimed Larian Studio set to head development. Both Divinity games by Larian Studio were masterpieces of the RPG genre and Baldur’s Gate 3 is in great hands. There really aren’t enough Dungeons and Dragons-style games these days and fans new and old are really looking forward to this one. The Early Access for the game was slated to be just around a year but has long since been prolonged. 2023 is the likely full release of Baldur’s Gate and we can’t wait to get our RPG fix on and roll Nat20s.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Another one of the 2023 most anticipated games is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Many tried to dethrone Marvel’s Spider-Man as the best superhero game on the market but they all failed. The star-studded cast of Marvel’s Avengers featuring Nolan North, Troy Baker, and Laura Bailey ended up being a microtransaction-filled grind fest that turned many people off. The more recent Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy was a solid effort with a very entertaining and funny story but some felt the combat was too shallow. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will definitely build on what was loved by the fans in the first game. Hopefully, we also get to play Miles Morales and Venom in this one.

Black Myth: Wukong

God of War explored the brutality and wonders of Greek and Norse mythology so Chinese indie game developer Game Science decided to give it a go with Black Myth: Wukong. Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG based on Journey to the West and Chinese mythology. This is an ambitious game from an indie developer that showcases beautiful next-gen graphics and deep-aesthetic combat.

Pragmata

Another game that was delayed from 2022 is Pragmata. Capcom’s sci-fi game with Hideo Kojima-vibes is an interesting game that you should be keeping an eye on. The trailers have been abstract at best but this does not dilute the hype. A dystopian world awaits and we may or may not have another masterpiece at our hands. Heck, Death Stranding was so confusing at first but it still turned out to be a good game so I’m definitely hopeful for Pragmata.
