So many to see at each crossing in this game (Animal Crossing New Horizons) that keeps on giving.
The incredibly calming Animal Crossing New Horizons (ACHN) was released at a time when the world needed it most. A lot of people appreciated the chance to be able to slow down and interact with cute characters. New Horizons is a fantastic entry in the Animal Crossing franchise but it has more to offer than a simple calming game experience.
ACNH is absolutely filled to the brim with content. You’d need to spend countless hours trying to see everything the developers wanted you to find. However, even if you spend all of your waking hours on your island, there’s still the chance of you missing out on some of the hidden and fun easter eggs Nintendo has scattered around the island. Here are some of our favorite easter eggs from Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Animal Crossing New Horizons Came From Outer Space!
You need to stay up late to access this first easter egg. Head into any of your rooms with a TV on a Saturday night at 3:33 AM and you just might find a surprising message taking over your Television screen. Players that follow this incredibly specific set of conditions will be greeted with an extended extraterrestrial message playing on-screen. Maybe Nintendo can give us an outer Space DLC in the future for Animal Crossing. Fingers crossed.
We Struck Gold!
Most of you now know that repeatedly smashing your shovel into a rock on the island yields various results. It’s entirely busywork but sometimes it pays off in the literal sense. Keep hitting that rock and if you’re lucky you’ll be gifted with a massive bag of moolah. Perk your ears and listen in for the distinct sound byte that plays if you get that payday. The iconic Super Mario 1UP jingle plays in the background heralding your newfound wealth.

The Squids Say Splat
Nintendo has been known to sneak in references into games from their other franchises. Animal Crossing New Horizons is no different. If you prefer spending your idle island days out on the dock and fishing for sea creatures then I’ve got an inkling you might have already come across this subtle nod to the Splatoon series. The random messages that pop up each time you catch squids make subtle and sometimes overt references to Nintendo’s team shooter.
Ice Cold Crossover
The crossovers don’t stop with the next easter egg. Unfortunate castaway Gulliver is out of luck as he regularly washes up ashore your island. Players may choose to extend a helping hand to this unlucky seafarer and that includes slowly getting to know him. One of Gulliver’s dialogue lines mentions an antagonistic “Snomad Fleet”. This is of course in reference to the enemy army players face off against in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Fortunately for players and for Gulliver, there seems to be no impending frozen invasion heading to the island. Unless?
The Princess in the Flower
The last easter egg takes some leg work but it’ll be worth it. Players need to find the recipe for a Tulip Surprise Box which can then be crafted using five red tulips and three units of softwood. The Tulip Surprise Box is an intricate clockwork tulip that pops out a little tiny cute princess! The default item features an unknown princess but you can customize it so that it shows one of two famous Nintendo video game princesses. Deck out your Tulip Surprise Box to feature either Princess Peach or Princess Daisy from the Mario franchise.
NEW New Horizons
ACNH has enjoyed immense success since it was released last year. Nintendo doesn’t seem to be letting up on all the fun content as they recently showed a whole slew of fun stuff headed for the social simulator game. Overall, the game will be receiving free and paid updates down the line! Both of the updates will officially be released on November 5th. The free update features a coffee shop, the return of many fan-favorite characters, expanded farming and cooking mechanics, and so much more! The paid Happy Home Paradise DLC will cost you $24.99. The premium update focuses more on designing vacation homes for different villagers on a separate resort island.
New updates always bring the possibility of new easter eggs being introduced into the game. We will all have to wait for dedicated easter egg hunters to hunt them down to find out. In the meantime, you can hunt down the existing easter eggs in the current version of Animal Crossing New Horizons!
